Overview

A real-time frequency display fed either from your microphone or from a file you drop in. The bars sit on a log frequency axis so the low end gets the room it needs, and a peak hold decays slowly over the top — without it, a 60 fps display is unreadable on anything transient, because the bars are gone before your eye reaches them. The microphone is opened only when you ask for it, never on load, and audio is never routed back to your speakers, so there is no feedback loop. Nothing is recorded and nothing is uploaded; the analysis happens frame by frame and is discarded.

Frequently asked

Does this record anything?

No. Each frame is analysed and thrown away. Nothing is stored, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Why does it ask for microphone permission?

Only when you press the button — never on load. If you decline, the tool still works: drop a file instead and it runs through exactly the same display.

Are the levels calibrated?

No, and no browser tool can be: the reading depends on your microphone and its gain. This measures balance between frequencies, not absolute sound pressure. For SPL you need a calibrated meter.

Why is echo cancellation turned off?

Because it is a processor, and a spectrum read through it is a picture of the processor. Noise suppression and automatic gain are disabled for the same reason.
