What is a UBL invoice?
UBL (Universal Business Language) is the international standard for electronic invoicing. This tool writes UBL 2.1 XML against the European EN 16931 rules, and an SI-UBL variant carrying the Dutch NLCIUS profile. Line quantities are tagged with proper UN/ECE Recommendation 20 unit codes, discounts are declared as AllowanceCharge elements, and bank details become PaymentMeans — so a receiving system gets a document it can actually process.
Does the preview really match the file I download?
The page you see, the PDF, the spreadsheet and the XML are all generated from one set of figures, so they cannot disagree about what the invoice says. Printing goes one better: the browser prints that very page at true A4, so a PDF saved from the print dialog is exactly what was on screen.
Is this invoice generator really free?
Yes. No account, no subscription, no limit on how many invoices you make.
How is my data kept private?
Everything — your business details, your customers, your logo and every saved invoice — is stored in your own browser through IndexedDB. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no server to upload it to.
Can I put my logo and colours on it?
Yes. Add a logo and choose an accent colour for the title, rules and total. The logo is resized in your browser and stored with your business profile, so it appears on every invoice you make afterwards and is embedded in the PDFs you download.
How are discounts handled for VAT?
A line discount reduces that line's taxable amount. A discount on the whole invoice is spread across the VAT rate groups in proportion to each group's net, so every rate's taxable amount stays consistent with the total — which is what an e-invoicing validator checks.
Can I create invoices for different countries?
Yes. Twelve currencies, any VAT rate you like per line including zero-rated, and each party carries its own country — taken from the field when you fill it in, and from the VAT number's prefix when you do not.
What export formats are supported?
PDF for sending, Excel (XLSX) and CSV for bookkeeping, JSON for developers, and UBL 2.1 or SI-UBL XML for e-invoicing. You can also print directly to A4.
Can I save my business details for future invoices?
Yes. Save them once as your business profile — company details, logo and accent — and every new invoice starts with them in place. Saved invoices stay in a local library you can reopen from History.
