Is my email private?
Yes. The file is read and shown inside your browser, and nothing is uploaded. Images that the message would load from the internet are blocked until you choose to load them, because loading them tells the sender you opened it.
Which files can I open?
EML files (the standard format most mail programs save), Outlook MSG files, Apple Mail EMLX files and MBOX mailboxes. The viewer checks the content, not the extension, and tells you when a file is something else, such as an Outlook .pst mailbox or a winmail.dat.
Can it run anything in the email?
No. HTML mail is shown in a sealed frame that runs no scripts and loads nothing from the internet. Links open in a new tab only when you click them, and the viewer shows where a link really goes before you do.
Can it tell me if an email is genuine?
It shows the evidence: the route through mail servers, the DKIM signatures the message carries and what the receiving server recorded for SPF, DKIM and DMARC. It does not check signatures itself, because that needs the internet, and it says so.
Do I need Outlook to open a .msg file?
No. The viewer reads Outlook's format directly, including messages stored only as Rich Text, attached messages and inline images.
Can I convert between formats?
Yes. Any message can be saved as EML, EMLX or MBOX, and Outlook MSG files are converted to standard EML. Each choice in the download menu says what it changes before you download; saving in the format you opened gives you the original file, unchanged.
Can I edit an email?
Yes. Choose Edit to change the subject, the people it was sent to, the date, the text (in place, so a designed newsletter keeps its layout) and the attachments, or edit the raw source. Only what you change is rewritten; everything else is copied from the original file. If your edits break a DKIM or S/MIME signature, the download menu says so before you download.
