How much can I reduce my video file size?
It depends on the video and the level you pick. Smallest usually saves 60–80%, Balanced 40–60%, High quality 20–40% and Near-lossless 10–30%.
What video formats are supported for compression?
Almost anything FFmpeg can read: MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, WMV, FLV, M4V, 3GP, MPEG-TS, MPG/VOB, OGV, MXF, animated GIF and more. You can save as MP4, WebM, AVI or MOV. AV1 video and copy-protected (DRM) files can't be decoded in the browser, and the tool tells you when that's the problem.
Is there a file size limit for video compression?
Each video can be up to 2 GB. Big files also need plenty of free memory on your device.
How long does video compression take?
Anywhere from a minute to half an hour. Big files, high quality and slow encoding speeds take longest.
Are my videos uploaded to your servers?
No. Compression runs in your browser with FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, so your videos stay on your computer.
Can I compress multiple videos at once?
Yes. Add several videos and they all get the same settings.
What's the difference between compression presets?
Smallest is for email and messaging. Balanced suits the web and social media. High quality keeps the picture crisp, and Near-lossless barely changes it but saves the least.
