MBOX to EML Converter

Overview

Split a mailbox into separate messages. Drop an .mbox, narrow it down by sender, subject or label if you like, and download every message as its own .eml file in one ZIP. Each file is the message as it was sent, without the mailbox's From lines and quoting. Everything happens in your browser.

How it works

Open the mailbox

Drop an .mbox file on the page. Messages appear while it is read.

Narrow it down, if you like

Search by sender or subject or filter by label; the download takes the messages shown.

Download the ZIP

One .eml file per message, numbered in mailbox order.

Frequently asked

Is anything changed in the messages?

No. Each .eml is the message as it sits in the mailbox, minus the mbox From line and the quoting mbox adds to body lines that start with “From ”.

How big can the mailbox be?

Up to 16 GB to open. The ZIP is built in your browser, so a download of many gigabytes needs that much free memory or disk for the browser to hold it.

Is it private?

Yes. The mailbox is read and split in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
